It was with pure accident that then Diemersfontein winemaker, Bertus Fourie, discovered this unique style of Pinotage 21 years ago. He accidently used the wood staves earmarked for the Diemersfontein Shiraz on a tank of the Pinotage and was blown away with the dominant flavours of coffee and Pinotage that this little mistake produced on the Pinotage. Well, lucky for us all, this mistake became the Diemersfontein 'go-to'wine when the first and original coffee/chocolate style Pinotage was born!
Inviting flavours of raspberries, cherries and pencil shavings on the nose, followed with rich fruit flavours of plum and berries rounding it all off with supple tannins on the palate.
