Tokara Directors Reserve 2006: 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot
Tasting note: This wine has a deep dark inky garnet colour. An intensely complex wine with aromas of black currant, Christmas cake and pepper spice layered with herbal notes and a hint of mint. The palate is full and rich, mirroring the nose with flavours of Christmas cake, cassis, and spice, layered with cedar and a eucalyptus finish. The tannins are chewy and broad, but the wine has a focused and intensely long finish.
Tokara Directors Reserve 2007: 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot, 5% Malbec
Tasting note: This wine has a deep dark inky garnet colour with a touch of red brick evident on the rim. This is an intensely complex wine with high toned fruit, perfumed aromas and spice dominating the nose. Here are notes of black currant, Christmas cake and a hint of mint. The palate is full and rich, mirroring the nose with flavours of Christmas cake, cassis, and spice, layered with cedar and a eucalyptus finish. The tannins are fine and velvety with certain freshness and focus on the finish.
Tokara Directors Reserve 2018: 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot, 4% Cabernet-Franc and 4% Malbec
Tasting note: Displaying an appealing red claret colour with an intense centre and a ruby rim. The nose showcases complex aromas of ripe red and black fruits with hints of dried cranberry, baking spice and graphite. The wine enters the palate with incredible purity and focus. Flavours are those of dark cherries, blackberries and ripe plum skin. Sumptuous and full there is a hint of spice on the mid-palate which leads to fine, firm tannins on the finish.
