2019 was a cool and mild vintage for all grape growers in Margaret River. Moderate growing season temperatures and summer rainfall produced wines of great clarity, drive and fruit focus.
The fruit was hand harvested from a select parcel within the 1.84Ha area of block 4 Chenin at Aravina Estate. The fruit was whole bunch pressed and sent directly to French oak puncheons 18% of which were new. The juice undertook natural fermentation using indigenous yeast flora and then matured for 8 months in oak on fluffy lees. The barrels were blended, lightly fined with organic products and filtered prior to bottling.
On the nose lifted citrus and primary notes of apple and peach. Secondary character of brioche and hazelnut show the subtle oak influence.
On the palate dried pear and a subtle phenolic texture balanced with fresh acidity give the wine balance and structure.
