Cederberg

Cederberg

At more than 3,200 feet above sea level, Cederberg Private Cellar is South Africa’s highest vineyard. The Cederberg lies about 250 km north of Cape Town. This vast region encompasses approximately 162 000 ha of rugged mountainous terrain A cool continental climate, where snow can fall on the vines in winter and northwesterly breezes fan them in the warm summers, combined with unpolluted air and crystal-clear waters, make this dramatic landscape the ideal terroir for producing wines of nobility, power and grace.
Here, on the farm Dwarsrivier, winemaker David Nieuwoudt leads a ‘team with attitude’ to produce award-winning wines from our high-altitude vineyards. The secret behind our ‘wines with altitude’? A unique terroir and a pure, virus-free environment.
